DESCRIPTION:

Ceftriaxone (Intacef TAZO) is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. Ceftriaxone (Intacef TAZO) is also given before certain types of surgery to prevent infections.

Ceftriaxone (Intacef TAZO) belongs to the class of  medicines known as cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. However, Ceftriaxone (Intacef TAZO) will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections.

USES:

Tazo bactam is an antibiotic used in combination with another antibiotic called pipe racillin to treat many infections caused by bacteria, such as urinary tract infections, bone and joint infections, severevaginal infections, stomach infections, skin infections, and pneumonia. It is also used to treat complicated intra-abdominal infections including inflammation of the membrane which lines the inside of the abdomen and the entire internal organs It is also used to treat decrease in white blood cells(neutropenia) with fever due to bacterial infection.

Side effects:

Headache and dizziness, symptomatic precipitation of Ceftriaxone (Intacef TAZO) calcium salt in the gallbladder, increase in liverenzymes, oliguria, increase in serum creatinine, genital mycosis, fever,shivering and anaphylactic or anaphylactoid reactions.
